Dart Profile Bespoke Seals

Dart Profile Fridge Seals (sometimes referred to as arrowhead fridge seals) are by far the most common fridge door seals and most newly designed Fridges use them. They are very easy to replace, needing no tools. They feature an arrowhead dart-shaped fixing strip that pushes firmly into a slot or channel around the door. The arrow-head dart fits into the slot which holds the seal on the door. Once inserted, the teeth grip the channel and hold the seal securely in place.

Ordering a bespoke dart profile seal is straightforward:

1. Identify the seal profile. If you have your Make and Model number, simply use our search bar. If you do not know the Make and Model or you do not get a match, of your fridge or freezer, identify your seal by cutting a section of your existing gasket and matching the cross-section to the profiles listed.
2. Confirm the dimensions, including the seal height, width, and dart fixing size.
3. Select the matching dart profile
4. Provide the door measurements so the seal can be manufactured to the correct size.

If you cannot identify your fridge or freezer seal using the appliance’s make and model, you will need to identify the seal’s cross-section profile.

The easiest way to do this is:

1. Cut a small section of the existing seal to reveal the cross-section.
2. Compare the profile shape to the dart profiles listed on the Profile Overview page.
3. Check that the height, width, and dart fixing dimensions match your seal.

This cross-section shape is essential for matching your seal correctly.

The main difference is how the seal attaches to the fridge or freezer door.

1. Dart profile seals – Push into a channel using a fixing “dart” that holds the seal in place.
2. Flap and Lip seals – Fix around a plate that is screwed onto the door.
3. Magnetic clip-in seals – Designed to clip into a retaining channel around the door.
4. Retained seals. At The Seal Company, we also offer retained seals. These coldroom seals (5003, 5006, 5008) are attached to the door using plastic retaining strips that are screwed onto the door.

It is important to note that while these seals often contain a magnet, the magnet’s purpose is to keep the door shut, not to hold the seal onto the door. In applications where a magnet isn’t used, such as chest freezers or coldrooms, the door is held shut by gravity or a mechanical latch. For older or specialised units, a flap and lip seal may instead be fixed onto a plate around the door to achieve the same airtight closure.
